In Loving Memory ~

Kenneth Gage Stearns was born in the old Burns Lake Hospital on March 2, 1936 (which is now known as the George Brown Memorial Centre) and died peacefully March 16, 2024 at the Pines surrounded by his family. Family was important to Dad and he always looked forward to getting together for any occasion big or small.

Dad will be remembered by his 7 children Julia (Kelly), Donnie (Yvonne), David (Susan), Debbie (Bob), Allan (Kristin), Pattie (Andy), Susan (Scott) 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

In 1971 Dad purchased a Guiding Territory at Troitsa Lake. He guided for a few years then sold the guiding but kept the cabin at Troitsa Lake which became a very special place for family to holiday both winter and summer. Dad was well know for his thick steaks, prime rib roasts and homemade bread and fish soup.

Dad had a lot of hobbies. He loved his gardening, woodworking, berry picking, raspberries & huckleberries his favourite. Trapping was another love he had. He spent many days going down Troitsa and Tahtsa Lake checking on his traps no matter what the weather was like, and in the winter, he would go by snowmobile to break trail and finish out the trapping season. Fishing was another favourite pass time with Dad! Whether it was at Troitsa Lake, Morice River, Ocean Fishing or helicopter fishing on the Gamsby with his friend Norm, he always enjoyed the fun times.

Dad and Mom enjoyed travelling to Europe, Hawaii, Reno, Arizona, Mazatlan and Dads trip to Africa with his friends Bill & Bruce was a high lite!

Dad wasn't one for too much technology, all you needed was a radio and a rotary phone!

The family home was built in Tintagel back in 1971 and we had cows, pigs, geese, dogs, cats and the huge family garden. Dad had a hard time leaving the family home in 2021. He went to live at The Pines where he eventually called it home.

We would like to say a special Thank you to The Pines who did so much for Dad. We took great comfort knowing he was so well cared for. The kindness, thoughtfulness and love you gave to our family will remain in our hearts forever.

Dads spot by the window where you could always find him will be a memory we will cherish always.
